Humanitarian Food Crisis Response

  MKC-DC Humanitarian Food Crisis Response The Meserete Kristos Church Development Commission (MKC-DC), in partnership with Compassion International Ethiopia, has completed a large-scale humanitarian food crisis response across Kiramu and Gida Ayana districts of East Wollega Zone and Tafo Sub-City in Sheger City. The intervention reached 35,047 individuals , far surpassing its original target of 18,325. Food Distribution in Detail Maize: Planned for 12,485 individuals with 3,745 quintals, but due to cost savings from local procurement, MKC-DC distributed 8,361 quintals to 27,870 people . Each beneficiary received 30 kg over two months , ensuring staple food security. Rice: Tailored to displaced Harar families in Tafo, who culturally prefer rice. Boricha Agriculture Project Brings Hope and Transformation

  The Boricha Agriculture and Livelihood Project, implemented by Meserete Kristos Church Development Commission (MKC-DC) with support from Mennonite Central Committee Ethiopia, is making remarkable strides in transforming lives and landscapes across Sidama. Empowering Farmers and Families 460 lead farmers (290 men, 170 women) trained in conservation agriculture, vermiculture, and effective microorganism (EM) technologies. Adoption has spread to 2,300 follower farmers , with over 1,700 already practicing CA . Vermiculture is thriving: 445 farmers produced 1,568 quintals of compost , boosting soil fertility and generating income. Inclusion and Equity 186 persons with disabilities received business training and poultry support, enabling them to start income-generating activities. Meserete Kirstos Church Development Commission

  Meseret Kristos Church Development Commission is the development wing of Meserete Kristos Church, which is affiliated with Mennonite Mission.  Currently, Meseret Kristos church has 352 local churches, 769 church planting centres and a total of about 269 thousand members all over the country.  All these evangelism centres are administered by 19 regional offices and a central office located in Addis Ababa.  The church performs its service under the overall guiding principle of “serving the whole person”. Since its establishment in 1951 as a church, it has been reaching the poor in fulfilling their spiritual, physical, social, intellectual and psychological needs. After long years of interruption during the Derg regime, in 1990 the church was given legal status and openly started its ministry where the Relief and Development Program (RDP) became an integral part.   The Meseret Kristos Church Development Commission (MKC-DC) has taken significant steps to alleviate the hardships faced by vulnerable families in the Seharti District of the Tigray region. In collaboration with the Mennonite Central Committee of Ethiopia (MCCE) , MKC-DC has allocated a total of 4,050,000 Ethiopian birr to 665 family heads who are currently at risk of starvation. This financial support aims to provide immediate relief and sustenance to those in need. Furthermore, the Meseret Kristos Church Development Commission has not only provided financial assistance but also extended moral support t o the people in the Tigray region. Our commitment to addressing the crisis demonstrates our dedication to the well-being of the community during these challenging times.
